Career highlight: “There have been a few. Being awarded an OBE was a real highlight as was receiving the ‘Designer of The Year’ award earlier in my career.”

Design background: Conran started his own label at the age of 19 and was among the first group of designers to show at London Fashion Week. He studied at Parsons in New York.

Design signatures: “Timeless, contemporary British style.”

How would you describe the Jasper Conran woman? “Anyone who finds pleasure in my work.”

Three spring/summer 2012 inspirations: “Bathing suits, languid and easy sportswear, Claire McCardell.”

What’s next for your brand? “New home collections with Wedgwood and Waterford, a new womenswear J by Jasper Conran capsule and I am working on my second book.”

Who are your design heroes? “There are lots of people, both living and dead, whose design work I admire - too many to mention.”


What’s your favourite cultural hotspot in the capital? “I thoroughly enjoy the diversity and breadth of cultural hotspots in London rather than having one that is a particular favourite.”
